Medium-Wave Infrared Lenses for Precision Applications

Our MWIR (Medium-Wave Infrared, 3–5μm) lens series is designed for cooled detector systems including MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride) and InSb (Indium Antimonide) FPAs. The shorter wavelength provides superior spatial resolution and thermal sensitivity compared to LWIR systems.

We offer two main sub-categories of MWIR lenses:

MWIR Thermal Lens

Cooled MWIR Lenses

Cooled MWIR lenses are designed for applications that demand the highest thermal sensitivity and fastest response times. These lenses are paired with thermoelectrically cooled (or cryogenic) MCT or InSb detectors to achieve sub-millikelvin temperature resolution.

  • Fast aperture: F/2.0 or faster for maximum signal collection
  • ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) optics for superior transmission in 3-5μm band
  • Anti-reflection coating optimized for MWIR atmospheric window

Uncooled MWIR Lenses

Uncooled MWIR lenses offer a cost-effective alternative for industrial thermography and monitoring applications where extreme sensitivity is not required. These lenses are optimized for use with uncooled microbolometer arrays operating in the 3-5μm atmospheric window.
